Imagine

So I invite you, to think of the world as our country and God as our religion. A government is meant to provide its people with good rules to live by, which will promote harmony and betterment of the society. A religion is supposed to teach one to love another as himself /herself. We are humans and there is only one difference amongst us really - male and female.

I'd like to end this article by listing a song from John Lennon called Imagine. You may say I'm a dreamer, I certainly wish that you'd join me in this dream. And by the way, if you haven't seen the movie "Life is Beautiful", it is one moving tale of how life can be beautiful, if only we dare to dream.

Imagine sung by Khaled and Noa

Imagine lyrics by John Lennon
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

[Edited on 26/12/2008] - I'd like to add a couple of lines about the 9/11 tragedy and more recently the 26/11 Mumbai attacks(my parents live within a couple of miles of the Oberoi hotel), it forced me to think in a very real way, how much we take freedom and security for granted. With all due respect to those who died or maimed in these two attacks, what about others, even today, people are getting killed in Afghanistan, Pakistan and in the north-eastern states in India. Not much thought is spared for those who die everyday. Why, because they are not popular cities or because war is expected in such places. They are real people dying too.

Yes, many tend to get so self-absorbed....me included....that we don't stop a bit to think about those who are hurting. Thanks for stopping by K, keep the HOPE burning though.

Yes.

What you write here is very true, and very sad. I think it's all too easy to forget that we could have been anybody, and that anybody else could have been us. That attacks in NE India, Pakistan, etc have almost become non-news is tragic. It's too easy to hate and too hard to understand.
